　1921年にヴェネツィア・ムラノ島で創業したVENINI工房の新収蔵作品を中心にご紹介します。国外に技術が漏れないよう12世紀からガラスの島・ムラノ島に秘められてきたヴェネツィアガラスの世界に、外部からデザイナーを招き、新風を巻き起こした工房として知られています。伝統技法とモダンデザインの融合を目指し、自社デザインに加え、建築、美術、ファッションなど様々な分野の有名デザイナーを起用し、数多くの作品を生み出してきました。「１２５もの色を作り出せる」世界屈指のガラス工房で、色の多彩さを活かした芸術作品は世界的な評価も非常に高く、独自の世界を展開しています。

We show our new collection of "Venini" established in Murano-Venice in 1921. All the glassworks were moved to island in the twelfth century to be safer against the fire accidents, but also protect the technique from the world. Venini is the one of the first factory invited artists, designers and architects from outside to this secret island, and has been known as a symbol of creative spirit in the Italian art of glass-making that fuses tradition and innovation.
Venini's rich palette of 125 color tones is the utmost expressions of unique art pieces renowned worldwide. Please enjoy beautiful colors with modern design world of Venini.

　モザイクとは、漆喰に大理石や色ガラスなどのテッセラ（小片）を埋め込み、壁面や床などを装飾する芸術です。起源は、紀元前4千年まで遡るといわれています。本展では、当館収蔵品からゴッホの代表作をガラスモザイクで表現した作品6点をご紹介致します。

　これらの作品は、当館の企画により、イタリア・ラヴェンナ市のモザイク専門工房に依頼して特別制作されたオリジナル作品です。色彩豊かなヴェネツィアガラスの何万個というガラス片が、ゴッホの大胆で力強いタッチを強調し、更なる迫力を与えています。日本の浮世絵にも影響を受けたといわれるゴッホの作品とガラスモザイク芸術の融合を、どうぞお楽しみ下さい。

We introduce reproduction of Van Gogh's famous paintings with glass mosaic. These works are our museum's original collection and completely unique in the world. They were produced by professional mosaicists in Ravenna, Italy, famous for restoration of important cultural heritages in the world.
